P: Lightroom Classic>Edit in PS: Long Delay+Erroneous Error Message opening Ps Beta 2024 25.0

I just recently updated Photoshop Beta to 2024 v25.0 on my Windows 11 machine.

Now when I try to open photos from LR 12.4 using the "edit in...", it hangs up for a time and then comes up saying "The file could not be edited because Adobe Photoshop 2024 could not be launched."

When I hit "Ok" it then opens the file in Photoshop 2024.

This happens with every file, even if Photoshop 2024 is already up and running at the time.

This does not happen with 2023 v24.7.

Estava com o PS 23 e PS Beta 24 instalados, e o LrC só abria as edições no Beta, removi o Beta e agora o LrC não "encontra" o PS 23 para editar as fotos.

Como solucionar?

Hello team, please I need help,

I use Lightroom Classic to edit my work photos. And when necessary, I open them in Photoshop Beta, through the Lightroom menu itself. Until recently, everything was working normally, the photo opened quickly in PS Beta, the edits were made, file saved and that's it, everything fine, with an edited copy in Lightroom. But recently, it's taking a long time to the photo open in PS Beta. After right clicking on the photo in Lighroom, select edit in > edit in Adobe Photoshop Beta, the PS Beta opens after the request, but the photo does not. After about 2 minutes, an alert message appears on LR. And when I click ok, even the error message saying that the PS could not be launched (and it's there opened), the photo finally opens in the Photoshop Beta.

This whole situation is really hampering my workflow. I already uninstalled the programs and preferences, reinstalled, however it did not solve. Does anyone have a light?

I'm using the programs on a Macbook Air M1 with Mac OS Ventura 13.4.1(c)

LR Classic version 12.4 Release Camera RAW 15.4
PS Beta version 25.0.0

Thank you very much in advance

When can we expect a fix for this to be rolled out?

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post if it helps you get responses.

Sorry, but I don't fully understand your answer. I am wondering if anyone can help me and where according to you I should look for an answer.

Downgrading to PS 24.6 fixed it. (Didn't bother with PSB as it's installed but just for experimenting with Generative Fill).

Sounds like this is a known issue, and that the next updates to both of these will resolve it. (in any case, problem solved well enough for now).

I suddenly started having this problem yesterday, and it continues today, after doing a full restart and also applying this morning's Camera RAW update. Camera RAW is now 15.5 (yesterday it was 15.4.1), Lightroom Classic 12.4, Photoshop 24.7 (Updated 13 days ago), Photoshop Beta 25.0 (Updated 5 days ago)

My strong guess is that the most recent updates to Photoshop broke this. (earlier in the summer, prior to that, I'd been using Edit In without issues on this system). My last "Edit in Photoshop" was done "Last Month" according to the Home view (but no more granularity than that, so I can't tell for sure that this preceded the Photoshop 24.7 update). Typically I'll do this only when printing (I prefer to print from PS vs LRC) so it would have been the last time I printed, which would have preceded the 24.7 update.

Nothing seems to solve it now. It's definitely an issue with RAW files only, because I can Edit In... with other 3rd party apps that require a TIFF intermediary and it generates and then opens the TIFF intermediary without any issues. I was hopeful that the Camera RAW update this morning would fix it (and I also did a full restart) but: no difference.

I'm running my LRC catalog from an external SSD, but there shouldn't be any permissions problems. (I'm running MacOS 12.6.8 on an M1Max, and the SSD mounts on the desktop with "Ignore Ownership" checked. (If "Ignore Ownership" is not checked, LRC has its own problems with the drive and stumbles over generating previews once the catalog initially opens. So it's not "that"). Permissions aren't a problem.

I'm reporting this as a bug; strongly suspect that only the next updates to PS and PSB are going to fix this. I'm an expert and don't see any way to fix this.

Weird and frustrating.

Go to your Photoshop apps in the Creative Cloud and install one older version of both PS apps by clicking on the 3 little dots.

I have the latest updates in Lightroom/Lightroom Classic and Photoshop and Photoshop Beta.

Since the last  updates I seem to have lost the ability to move between L/room and P/shop.

I bring up Edit/Edit in Photoshop but the image does not appear. Photoshop interface comes up but minus the image..This is the same in both Lightroom and Lightroom Classic and Photoshop and Photoshop Beta. Prior to the latest updates it worked fine. I am working with Windows PC

Hello Community.

After making adjustments in Lightroom, I often open my photos in Photoshop. For this I use the "Edit in..." Function by right click on the appropriate picture etc..
Normally, before opening, a selection appears again, whether I want to open the image in the original or a copy and in each case whether with or without Lightroom adjustments.

Since short, however, this way no longer works.

The selection window does not appear anymore. Photoshop opens or the active window changes to Photoshop. Then nothing happens at first. After what feels like a minute, a warning message appears in Lightroom, saying ". The photo cannot be edited in Photoshop because the file xyz cannot be opened".

If I click away this message, the desired file opens in Photoshop.

Meanwhile I found out that this is only the case with RAW formats. In my case ARW and CR2. Tiff can be opened without any problems.

Now I have already uninstalled and reinstalled Lightroom (desktop version) Photoshop Beta and also 2023. Also the RAW extension.

I have searched the internet for solutions, but have not found a real one.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

Danke

There is a known bug with Edit in Photoshop that causes this problem if you also have the Photoshop beta installed.

Please note: the dialog with 'Edit with Lightroom adjustments' etc. never comes up if you send a raw file to Photoshop. That dialog only shows if you send a TIFF/PSD/JPEG from Lightroom to Photoshop, so not getting this dialog for raw files is as designed and has nothing to do with this bug.
