P: Lightroom Classic>Edit in PS: Long Delay+Erroneous Error Message opening Ps Beta 2024 25.0

I just recently updated Photoshop Beta to 2024 v25.0 on my Windows 11 machine.

Now when I try to open photos from LR 12.4 using the "edit in...", it hangs up for a time and then comes up saying "The file could not be edited because Adobe Photoshop 2024 could not be launched."

When I hit "Ok" it then opens the file in Photoshop 2024.

This happens with every file, even if Photoshop 2024 is already up and running at the time.

This does not happen with 2023 v24.7.

Why Photoshop dosen`t open the files which I try to send from Lightroom. That was not problem before but now connection do not work.

Me too. Its very frustrating to put it mildly. For example, I try to export a file to photoshop to put a border on it. The file does not open in Photoshop. If I them export the same file to NIK, it puts the border on that I want and it returns it to Lightroom. Lightroom then puts up a string of messages saying it could not open my original file. When I close the error messages, the NIK file is deleted and the file opens in Photoshop!!

Go to your Creative Cloud and click on the 3 little dots on the right of the PS app, where you’ll see an option for other versions. Install the previous version of PS and you should be OK.

I edit photos in Lightroom Classic, then do additional edits in Photoshop with the "Edit In" option via right-clicking the image. After the most recent updates, I keep getting the following two error messages when I try and do this:

The photos eventually load into photoshop, but I'm wondering if there's a communication error? When I choose to "edit in" it gives Photoshop 2024 as the option, then opens Beta. There hasn't been a 2024 update that I've received.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling both Photoshop 2023, Photoshop (Beta), and Lightroom Classic. I've also tried a variety of performance adjustments. Does anyone have suggestions? 😕😕

I shoot primarily architectural photography, at least 80% of my workflow involves opening multiple layers from Lightroom into Photoshop, and I still use Lightroom Classic.

As of right now, with all the latest updates, I cannot open any raw file to edit individually, and upon further testing, no file type (tested JPEG, RAW and TIF) will open as layers. This is absolutely crippling to my workflow in a month where I'm already backed up with projects to finish, has anyone found a workaround?

Wish I could add something useful, except that I am having the same problem. Rebuilt both preference files, which didn't help. Hope someone can help.

Command +E in LR did not solve the issue for me.

Macbook (Pro M2 Max late June 2023 64GB memory and 1Tb SSD running Mac OS Ventura 13.5) using Lightroom 12.4. I was able to add Photoshop beta as an option - I can swap between Photoshop beta (25.0.0) and clean-release Photoshop but with Generative AI available inside the beta that is my preference to use and so is set to my default for Photoshop editing.

When I try to open a DNG in Photoshop beta I get the screen attached and after clicking on the OK button I can see the DNG inside Photoshop beta on this instance. It can take some time which is disconcerting for a new M2 I have seen other instances where no message appears on screen, so I try the export again. It can also cause my Dell U3223QE to turn off. Super weird but leave that for another day as hopefully the bugs opening Photoshop will be fixed as this does not happen with any other software used daily.

The process of returning the edited image seems to work as expected and I have no problems to report. I had the same problems with previous editions as well but not consistently. Is it possible it's an M2 issue? My machine was only put into use around 30 June 2023.

It may be important to note that this issue only is a problem for me with a basic M2 MacBook Pro. My M1 Studio is running the latest versions of PS and PS Beta with no LR interface issue. Again, on the MacBook, reverting to earlier versions of BOTH PS and PS Beta solved the problem.
