P: Photoshop Beta 26.8 Crashes on Startup

Photoshop Beta version 26.8 fails to launch on my system and crashes immediately during startup. Reverting to version 26.6 resolves the issue — no crash occurs.

The issue appears related to memory access and ntdll.dll heap corruption. This did not occur in previous beta versions.

OS: Windows 11
RAM: 64 GB
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 8-Core Processor, 3593 Mhz, 8 Core(s), 16 Logical Processor(s)
GPU: NVIDIA RTX 2060
Photoshop Beta version: 26.8.0
Previous working version: 26.6.0

Crash Details:

Exception Code: 0xc0000374 (heap corruption)
Faulting Module: ntdll.dll
Fault Offset: 0x000000000011e0e5
Related error in logs:

Request:

Please investigate possible regression in memory/system hardware access in 26.8 (possibly related to LibXPUInfo), and advise if a patch or fix is planned.

For your information, I just updated Photoshop (not Beta) to version 26.7 and opens normally. Srange that the Beta version 26.7 does not launch, but the normal version does.

No. It is not fixed.

I just installed 26.8 and 26.7 today (May 20, 2025) to Win 11 and I get the exact same bugs and error message others have already reported. 26.6 launches into the UI just fine.

I tried restarts and reinstalls and reset of Prefs. Nothing helped. It's not my system that's the issue... Too many people getting the same bug for it to be that in any case.

I am not running production Ps on the same computer as the Ps beta. I can't afford to mess with the production rel.

I just updated the Ps beta today to rel. 26.8 on my Win 11 laptop (NVIDIA 4090 processor, 16GB VRAM 32GB RAM). It will not launch into the UI. I get the attribution credits splash screen then an error message box (see snip attached). Ps beta won't open. I am not running production release Ps on the same computer.

I've tried a restart of my laptop (didn't help - same bhvr). I tried uninstalling and reinstalling that Ps beta rel. (didn't help - same bhvr).

I'm now trying to install the prior release. But had hoped to test the new Contextual Toolbar Remove I'm seeing folks on YT promoting .... & it's something I'd like to feature on my own Ps-focused YT channel.

Just tried Ps beta rel. 26.7 instead and got the same error msg as below. I've never gotten error msgs until this attempted set of updates.

Resetting Prefs did not help. That is not the issue. Lots of users posting on Web about the same bug(s).

Ps beta Rel. 26.6 launched okay after install.
