P: Photoshop Beta & v26.1 on Windows - Launch Error: dxcore.dll

Today after the update I encountered that my Photoshop won't open due to this error: “(Photoshop beta.exe) Failed to continue code execution because the system did not detect dxcore.dll. To fix this error, try reinstalling the application.”
---

I have reinstalled several times already, but it didn't help me in any way. I also searched for solutions, but found nothing useful 😞
Since I urgently need the program for work, I wanted to install at least the previous version, but from what I understand, it is not possible to do so
---

Does anyone know how to fix it or how to install the previous version?

I'm having the same "dxcore.dll file not found" issue using photoshopv26.1. I'm on Windows 10 enterprise as well. Beta behaves the same way and  I cannot access previous versions. Has anyone found an immediate solution to this problem?

Hi everyone. We have a fix for this issue that should be in the next Ps beta release soon. We will update the thread once it is live and will monitor this thread to make sure it worked for everyone.

We appreciate your patience as this has been difficult since we are unable to reproduce the error.

Thanks,

Is there an ETA on a recommendation for those impacted?

Appreciate your input, but been thru all these steps, several times, and no resolution. I need Photoshop 2024 but can't seem to locate insall files. No previous version options or offline installers I can locate. My team is down until we can get Photoshop running again.

Hello, I have the same problem, photoshop updated yesterday and won't open. In Creative Cloud there is no option to install the old version, only uninstall and install version 26.1.

I have Photoshop through a University licence of the Creative Cloud. I accepted updates to the newest Photoshop version and now it does not work. I have uninstalled and reinstalled it multiple times and am still unable to get it to work. I do not have other versions of Photoshop available through the Creative Cloud Desktop interface.

"Photoshop system error the code execution cannot proceed because dxcore.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix the problem." > OK

"The code execution cannot proceed because msvcp140_atomic_wait.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem." > OK

Reinstallation multiple times, including restarting my computer did not solve the issue. Any advise is appreciated.

++++WORKAROUND++++

We recoveded the previous working version before 26.1 from our backups. We actually recovered version 2024. For us we use Windows, so it is in the Program Files folder, recovered that back to our systems. Created a new shortcut on the desktop to that folder and voila we are back up and running. For Mac users, I presume TimeMachine backups would have these older versions there. And suspect that will work as well!

Finally back up and running on v2024. What a gong show. Our business runs on Photoshop and this has caused lost profits and delayed deliveries of projects. Very bad on Adobe for another poor release cycle.

Photoshop 26.1 wont launch, gets dxcore.dll error. Was trying to rollback so my people can work.

Creative Cloud Desktop version 5.5.0.617

Running on Server 2019 DC 64bit (10.0.17763) as it has been for several years now.

This happened with Illustrator about 3 months ago and we had to keep rolling back versions until an update pushed that worked. My intent was to roll back the version of Photoshop, but that is not an option on current Create cloud version. The only 3 dot menu options are Add-ons and Uninstall.
