I’ve encountered an issue when working with Smart Objects in Photoshop Beta, which persists in version 26.5.

When a layer is converted to a Smart Object, I am unable to adjust its color using the "Hue/Saturation" adjustment (Ctrl+U). The adjustment window opens, but any changes I make do not directly affect the Smart Object's appearance. The only workaround is to rasterize the Smart Object, which removes its smart functionality and defeats the purpose of using Smart Objects in the first place.

This issue significantly impacts non-destructive workflows. Could you please confirm whether this is a known bug, and if so, whether a fix is planned for an upcoming update?

Any updates on this? It is not working for me either.

When you try and apply an adjustment on to a smart object, it just adds the name of the adjustment to the list of filters applied to the smart object without bring up the adjustments window to be able to edit.

For example, hitting {command}+M in the past brought up the Curves, to be applied to the smart object, now it does not.

Sounds like a better idea Trevor, thanks for the heads up. Got a lot of legacy files using this old way so it's good to have it working anyway.

If that's the original Shadows/Highlights then it was a horrible tool that I was not aware was even still available.  Use the Camera RAW filter which has much better control, and much more besides.  And yes, it does work with SOs.

Mine's fine on others, just Shadows/Highlights is a no go. The history says it's happened but not the dialogue box unless it's off the screen somewhere I can't retreave.

For me, any adjustment doesn't work with SO not just Shadow/Highlights.
