Photoshop Beta 27.10.0 displays RGB documents overexposed when GPU is enabled on Apple Silicon (M1 Pro, macOS Tahoe 26.5.2)

After updating Photoshop Beta to version 27.10.0, all RGB PSD documents appear significantly brighter/overexposed.

The same PSD files display correctly in the current release version of Photoshop on the same Mac.

System

  • MacBook Pro 16-inch (2021)
  • Apple M1 Pro
  • 16 GB RAM
  • macOS Tahoe 26.5.2

External monitor:

  • ASUS PA279 (4K via HDMI)

The issue occurs on both:

  • Built-in Liquid Retina XDR display
  • External ASUS PA279

Tests performed

  • Same PSD files display correctly in the release version of Photoshop.
  • Problem exists only in Photoshop Beta.
  • Proof Colors changes the rendering and makes the image appear much closer to the correct colors.
  • Disabling GPU Compositing does NOT solve the issue.
  • Disabling OpenCL does NOT solve the issue.
  • Disabling "Use Graphics Processor" completely fixes the problem.

Expected behavior

RGB documents should display identically to the release version of Photoshop with GPU acceleration enabled.

Actual behavior

With GPU enabled, RGB documents appear washed out / overexposed.

Hi everyone… please update to the latest Ps Beta: Adobe Photoshop Version: 27.10.0 20260802.m.3625 and confirm this has solved this issue.

    Thanks,

I’ve updated to the new version this morning and the problem looks like being fixed. After I unabled Technology Previews → Precise color management for HDR display and made sure that under Performance → Use Graphics Processor is enabled images are displayed without a flaw. Happy day!

Hi all, the update is on the way - in the meantime, the most correct fix in the current build is:

    1. Go to Preferences/Technology Previews
    2. ENABLE `Precise color management for HDR display`
    3. Restart Photoshop

The name of the setting sounds counterintuitive, but it should be ON at this time even when HDR display or images are not involved. This will allow you to keep GPU acceleration and get the correct color management of the document to display the same as before this bug showed up.

    Thanks,

    Small trick :

Only put on “Precise color management for HDR display” in “Technology Previews” of preferences…

(In french language : “Gestion précise des couleurs pour affichage HDR” dans “Aperçus de technologie” des préférences...)

If you enable Proof Colors (cmd+Y), it gives you a temporary fix.

Hi all, we hope to have a fix in an upcoming build next week.  Please make sure to check your version and update whenever there is a new one.

    Thank you for your patience.

Indeed, when I uncheck under Settings → Performance → Use Graphics Processor then the problem is fixed when I load/reload an image.

Actually, it makes it impossible to use! And it is less ‘overexposed’ or ‘brighter’, it is actually looking like a dust-filter is laid over an image eliminating the brilliance of colors and depth. I guess we have to wait for the next update which in beta’s case won’t be too long.

Exactly. I don’t use the regular version but I had to download it because of this issue.

I am also having this problem! Makes it almost impossible to use.
