punctuation marks such as the ellipsis (…) and em dash (— / ―) become overly slanted and appear visually broken or disconnected

Hello, I use Photoshop for professional editorial work, and Faux Italic is required in my workflow. The problem occurs specifically when I work with vertical text. In Photoshop 2025 and later, if Faux Italic is applied in vertical text layout, punctuation such as the ellipsis (…) and em dash (— / ―) becomes excessively slanted and looks broken or disconnected. Earlier versions handled this much better. Could you please let me know whether there is an official fix or workaround for this issue?

Hi @im_0390 are you on the latest Ps Beta?

Adobe Photoshop Version: 27.5.0 20260305.m.3446 d0c8898  arm64 (beta, PublicBeta)

Could you share screenshots of the workflow and what you are seeing, or a video?

1. Try resetting Prefs for the Beta:
/Users/yourname/Library/Preferences/ Photoshop Beta Settings (Mac Ventura)
/Users/yourname/Library/Preferences/Adobe\ Photoshop\ \(Beta\)\ Settings (Mac)

C:\Users\user name\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop (Beta)\Adobe Photoshop (Beta) Settings

Launch BETA Photoshop While Pressing The Keyboard Shortcut
With Photoshop closed, press and hold Shift+Ctrl+Alt (Win) / Shift+Command+Option (Mac) on your keyboard and then Launch Photoshop the way you normally would.

2. It may help if we could see your Photoshop beta System Info. Launch Photoshop beta, and select Help >System Info...and copy/paste the text in a reply.

Thanks,

Thanks. I’ve already tested preference-reset related steps multiple times in the past for a separate Libraries issue.

However, the current issue is different. This faux italic problem in vertical text persists even after a full OS reinstall and clean Photoshop installation.

I also confirmed similar behavior across multiple Photoshop versions from 22/23 and later, so this does not appear to be caused by corrupted prefs or cache.

At this point, it looks more like a Photoshop text rendering issue, possibly related to vertical CJK composition and faux italic behavior.

(In the image above, the ellipsis on the left was rendered in Photoshop version 22, while the ellipsis on the right was rendered in Photoshop version 26. As shown, the ellipsis appearance is noticeably different between the two versions.)
