Apply Image doesn't recognize layer masks

Photoshop 27.4.0

Windows 11

For AGES I was able to select the layer mask  (alpha channel) of a layer as a channel for operation when using the command Apply Image. Now I can only choose either RGB channels, and that’s it.

Why remove it? What’s the purpose of removing features that have been in the software for ages?
Please restore this feature.

p.s. Calculations still preserves the “Layer Mask” option. Please keep it.

Hey, @ジョルダーノ. Welcome to the Photoshop Community. I'll help you figure this out. Based on the limited description, I’ve been unable to recreate this.

Please share a video of the issue and the system info from Photoshop Help > System Info. Copy and paste it into a text document, then upload and attach it here.

Here are a few bugs that we’ve identified with the Apply Image panel:

You can go to Edit > Preferences > Technology Previews > Uncheck ‘Modern User Interface’ and restart Photoshop as a workaround.

    Thanks!

    Thank you for your reply.

Yes, your suggestion worked, the problem is the “modern user interface”.
Disabling that option reverted to the previous interface and now the “apply image” menu allows for selection of layer/group masks in addition to the rgb channels.
    Many thanks again
