AI Assistant fails on every prompt in Premiere Pro Beta 26.5.0 Build 42

I am experiencing a problem with the new AI Assistant in Premiere Pro Beta.

The Assistant panel loads correctly, I can create new chats, and messages are sent successfully. However, every prompt immediately returns the following error:

"There was an issue processing your request. Please try again. If the issue persists, please start a new chat."

The error occurs with every prompt, including very simple requests that do not require media analysis.

Examples:

  • "What version of Premiere Pro am I using?"
  • "What can you do?"
  • "Give me an example of what you can do."

The error appears almost instantly after sending the prompt.

System Information:

  • Premiere Pro Beta 26.5.0 (Build 42)
  • Windows 11
  • Creative Cloud Pro subscription
  • Generative AI features included in plan
  • Adobe Firefly works normally in the browser
  • Creative Cloud Desktop is up to date
  • System Compatibility Report shows "No conflicts to report"

Troubleshooting already performed:

  • Signed out and back into Adobe Creative Cloud
  • Created multiple new Assistant chats
  • Tested with and without projects open
  • Tested simple prompts that do not require timeline analysis
  • Verified Firefly image generation works correctly
  • Verified active subscription and AI entitlement
  • Checked System Compatibility Report (no issues found)

Expected Behavior:

The Assistant should process prompts and return responses.

Actual Behavior:

Every prompt fails immediately with the generic processing error message.

Could someone confirm whether this is a known issue with Build 42 or if there are additional logs/settings I should check?

Thank you.

     @Guennady30468893fu2p,

I had not played with this. Wow. Great possibilities.

Thanks for providing all the detail in your report. I hope @mattchristensen1’s question gets to the issue for you.

I am also Win11 and just updated to Build 42. When I update, I reset preferences, clear the cache, and reset plugin loading cache. It is working for me.

I created a simple project with one 2:37 clip, transcribed the source, and created a sequence from it using the new button. I opened the Assistant panel. I saw there were sample prompts, so I picked “find and assemble.” The actual prompt is:

“Look through the clips in my project and assemble a rough cut that is around 60 seconds long. Based on the footage, ask me pro level questions with options for the structure and quick cut style. Ask me to choose an option, then make the cut.”

The Assistant displays various steps and asks for various input. In the end, it produced a just under 1 minute excerpt focused on the content category I picked.

@Guennady30468893fu2p I’m sorry that’s happening. Could you check in the bottom left side of https://www.adobe.com/files and hover over the storage space there? Is the cloud storage on your account full?

the same thing is happening to me, currently on Mac OS and i have over 990 GB of available cloud space, cleared project cache, uninstalled premiere beta and reinstalled. Logged out and back in, running 26.5 build 42. Not sure why this would be occurring…
