Audio track showing incorrect waveforms

Hello,
while editing a project, I noticed that the waveforms of some files started to show different visual information than the audio. In other words, the waves no longer match what I hear. In some sections with speech, I see the waves slow down as if there was a pause. In fact, according to the waves, the audio is not even synchronized - however, it is perfectly synchronized when played.

Is there any way to regenerate the waveforms to fix this? Visual information is very important for a fast editing.
