Getting Audio disk I/O overloaded at <timestamp> in "Audio Prefetch" warnings

I've used the new Pr Beta 23.1 build 33 on the latest project I have and I am getting Audio disk I/O overloaded at <timestamp> in "Audio Prefetch" warnings a lot (maybe 10 times or so).

It seems that they show up when I'm working with dynamic link but I don't have enough data yet to say that with absolute certainty.

What does this mean? Is it a bug?

I'm experiencing the same issue and am feeling increasingly frustrated. Premiere has been incredibly unreliable lately, and I'm seriously considering a switch to DaVinci Resolve at this point.

I've attempted all troubleshooting steps, including clearing cache, restarting my computer, and even reinstalling both Premiere and Premiere Beta. Despite these efforts, I continue to encounter the "Audio Hardware I/O Overloaded" error, which has severely impacted my workflow. I’m on a tight deadline today, and this recurring issue is making it challenging to deliver on time.

I must say, I preferred the stability of previous versions, before recent changes. For a professional tool costing over $50 per month, this is disappointing. This situation is making it difficult to justify continuing with Premiere.

Same issue here

I started recording with OBS Studio Indistinguishable quality and it has Audio Disk I/O overladed at 01:38:12. I used to always convert OBS Lossless quality with Handbrake to MP4 *like 2 hrs was 400GB on External Harddrive convert it to C drive then edit in Premiere and Export as 4k despite 1920 x 1080 monitor per @wallstbets on Youtube. Maybe it's because I'm editing a file on the E drive but moving it to C drive then editing might remove that I/O overload issue. but I don't really have the time to wait for the quick transfer between drives so when i click each area during my edit it loads slowly. I guess Adobe can make external harddrives or something for Twitch gaming and work with Elgato relative to Virtual Desktop being useful to control PC wirelessly on Oculus Quest with Airplay from the Couch with Oculus controllers, but Oculus controllers can't change Scale Size in Adobe After effects with one oculus controller not that editing is that fun on oculus or a thing relative to learning because ipads exist and are offensive.

same problem here...no track effects to cause latency but audio dropping left and and right in the latest beta version.  I updated premiere beta this morning in windows 11 and it seemed to increase audio problems

Hello,

There's no point in rolling back now, as we have the new version 24.4.1. You need to use it to test if the bug is still occurring.

Yes, it happens on the beta build... Surely you want us to report bugs? What's the point of telling us to just roll back?

It's possible that the Premiere Pro Beta version could be causing the freezing issue. To troubleshoot this, I recommend installing the latest stable version of Premiere Pro instead. Read This

Thanks for this

Very frustrating, dealing with the same here! No presets in Essential Sounds, no effects applied, all files on a very quick SSD.

Preferences and cache have been reset, still happens. This is on the latest PPro Beta version.

Disk I/O (Input/Output) performance refers to how quickly and efficiently data is read from or written to a storage device like a hard disk drive (HDD) or solid-state drive (SSD). This is a crucial aspect that impacts a computer's overall performance, particularly when managing large data sets.

Key measures of disk I/O performance include:

  • Transfer Rate: This indicates the speed of data transfer between the storage device and computer memory, typically measured in bytes per second.

  • Latency: This measures the time taken for the storage device to respond to data requests, usually in milliseconds.

  • IOPS (Input/Output Operations Per Second): This quantifies the number of read/write operations a device can handle per second, useful for comparing different storage devices.

  • Throughput: This denotes the amount of data read or written within a specific time frame, measured in bytes per second.

So have you applied any presets in the Essential Sound panel? Is there sufficient disk space available? Have you attempted to clear the cache and reset your preferences?

Getting this error and performance issues on the latest beta build, too.
