Is this normal

Steps to reproduce:
1 Put two clips on the timeline next to each other on the same track

  1. Slide the 2nd clip to the left so it truncates the first clip by a few frames
  1. Grab the fade handle at the start of the 2nd clip and slide it to the right, creating, supposedly, a crossfade transition from clip 1 to clip 2. (Clip  1 has trailing frames covered by clip 2).

Result: … Clip 2 does a fade from black, ignoring frames from the first clip

Expected: ...Clip 2 to do a transition from clip 1 to clip 2

Is this now normal?

If you want a cross dissolve covering both clips select both clips and hit apply default transition to selection (or kbsc)

That’s correct, fade to black. Grab the handle from the left clip and drag it to the right for a dissolve / crossfade. (or the right handle to the left).
