New export dialog is limited to specific file format

When exporting a h.264 file using the new "save as" dialog (in Windows 10), I can see other h.264 files in my output folder. I cannot see any other file formats, such as Quicktime files. Which means I cannot pick the mov's file name to transfer to the h.264 file. This affects every file format, so I can't export a wav file, and have it match the file name of a Prores quicktime file I just exported.

The export save as dialog box needs to be unrestricted, so all files can be seen, not just the file type I have selected for export.

I checked this even with CS6; its the same. And 2018.

To be clear, this didn't work in 22.2, or 15.4. It was a bug then, it's a bug now.

This functionality works in Photoshop (by actively choosing a different file format in the save as dialog, and the developers added every file type available to Photoshop), and works in hundreds of other Windows applications by changing the file output type to *.*

As I see it the export option Save As is the same as in previous versions of the export settings.

    You see but one format.

You can check this the AME which still used the 'old' export settings.

I have the same reaction. But I checked my memory (that it used to be different), and discovered that since PR 2020 at least, the export name dialogue has limited the selection to the filetype being exported. Also true of the Quick Export and of AME.

I'm on Windows, and I suspect that it is a a limitation of the operating system - once you limit the save option to a filetype, that is all you are going to see. So they'd have to allow the confusion of being able to change filetype to see those other types.

Francis posted a Mac screenshot that shows mov and xmp showing for filetype .mov. Does Mac show all files when .mov is shown as filetype? Or xmp with mov? Screenshot is here:
