Pen Tool creates dashed line, then disappears

Trying to draw with the Pen Tool on the Opacity effect. Starting to draw creates a dashed line instead of a solid mask path. Also, the Mask is not created in the ECP and clicking away on the panel makes the Mask disappear in the Program Monitor. 

Beta version 25.1.0 (build 56)
Also using a version with Smart Masking enabled
