PPro often refuses to include audio in linked AE comp

Steps to reproduce:

Create a comp, with some audio, in AE

Drag that comp into PPro

Play that comp in PPro...it has audio - I can hear it. Look at its audio (in PPro)....there is an audio waveform

Drag the comp into a bog-standard timeline

Result:

No audio appears on the timeline

Expected:

Audio should accompany the comp on the timeline

Even if I drag the audio only (from the audio waveform view) to the timeline, I just get the "grabbing hand with 'no' sign on it" icon, and nothing happens. The ONLY way I can get it to work is by dragging the comp onto the 'new sequence' icon, then copying & pasting it from that new sequence into the target sequence.

Oh. How embarrassing. That was exactly the issue - sequence track targets. Oops - please pretend none of this happened! 😳

Maybe an obvious question but did you make sure your sequence track targets were set correctly? i.e. disabling all source/target patching, or making sure the audio source is enabled.
