Premiere always crashes when using enhance speech

Whenever I try and use enhance speech, premiere freezes the whole machine and crashes. It seems like it occurs when processing audio clips, though it doesn't happen immediately, nor every time—however, if enhance speech is used on a clip in a project, that project will crash at some point, without fail.

I'm using Premiere 24.3.0 (build 59), but the same behavior occurs in beta build 24.5.

I'm running Sonoma 14.4.1 on 2019 16-inch Macbook Pro.

2.3 GHz 8-Core Intel Core i9

AMD Radeon Pro 5500M 4 GB

Intel UHD Graphics 630 1536 MB

32 GB 2667 MHz DDR4

Still not fixed? Nice. My coworker and I have started lovingly calling the Enhace Speech button, "Arming the Grenade" because it will ether work well, or blow up your desktop. Thanks Adobe.

Same issue here! Froze up my Mac 14 times on one day! Gave it up. We're 6 month further now, still no fix?

I have the same issue - so frustrating - 2020 27 inch iMac, 3.6 Ghz i9 10 core, 64 GB 2133 MHz DDR4, AMD Radeon Pro 5700 XT 16 GB. Please fix.

Huh, so I guess that means David here failed to pass along the gravity of this issue.

Thanks David, I see our patience truly is appreciated.

As an update, I have managed, with an hour's worth of phone calls, to speak with technical support and the senior members  technical support are now aware of the gravity of the issue and have apologized profusely for the bug. I am waiting on next steps.

This is not just an Intel or Mac issue. I have a Threadripper PC and it is doing the same thing.

David,

There are a few issues here, one of which is that your engineers simply cannot allow a bug in a release that has the potential to damage equipment. It is gross neglegance and Adobe needs to take responsiblity for the damaged caused.

The workaround on offer — to use a different piece of software, split out the audio, enhance it via web, then reinport it is incredibly impractical, especially for anyone working on anything longform. But more importantly, it requires removing the enhancement from all editing work done previously. Unfortunately, removing those enhancements, or even deleting the clips with those enhancements on them crashes my system 90% of the time — catestrophic crashes that freeze the system. If such a crash takes place while the software or the system is writing to a drive, it can, and has, damaged the drive beyond repair. I'm not willing to take that risk now that I know such damage is possible.

I also need to point out that these forums are not support. Adobe's cost-cutting decision to offer no phone or chat support is unconscionable, and leaves users trapped without any way to get help in a useful and timely manner. This is not acceptable for those of us who make a living using your products and are locked in.

I'm deeply frustrated and I don't want to be thanked for my patience, because I don't have any patience for this. You need to issue a warning to your customers about this bug, you need to remove the feature from Premiere (without creating more crashes) until it is fixed, and you need to renumerate me for the cost of the damaged drive. As I said before, someone needs to get in touch with me directly and promptly. If you can't do that, I need you to connect me with your legal department — an option I'm sure we are all loath to explore.

Hi all,

Continued thanks for your patience as we try to resolve this issue. I'm writing to let you know we haven't forgotten about this at all and our engineers are actively working with our partners at Apple and AMD to fix it. If you have a system with a chip impacted by this problem, please consider the workaround described below, for the time being.

When we have updates we will post them here: https://community.adobe.com/t5/premiere-pro-bugs/known-issue-crash-w-enhance-speech-on-macs-with-amd-radeon-gpus/idi-p/14780699

Yes, mine continues to crash. What's the point of having AI Enhanced Speech if it's just going to be unstable. It takes my 5x as long to edit my videos than it should.  ADOBE DO SOMETHING! For the amount of money we are paying, You should have made this #1 Priority!!!
