Premiere Pro m1 Beta Crashing every 5 minutes or less

Premiere crashing at least every 5 minutes:

-I am running Premiere pro beta 23.5 on Macbook Air M1 Monterey 12.5.1 (the computer is not the problem, it was worked very well for the past two years with this same exact footage and editing style)

-Seems to happen most when I use the OPT key to expand or shrink timeline with scrollwheel (which is usually constantly) 

-editing between two 4k HEVC 10 Bit 4:2:0 clips with a color grade adjustment layer that I have toggled off

-Using proxies for all clips (1536x790) This did not help the crashing as I proxied to see if it would help. 

-all progress in progress is recoverable everytime but it is incredible frustrating to have to reopen premiere every 2-5 minutes. 

-I have already tried installing an earlier version but I cannot open my project with earlier versions.
