Premiere slow to swap between large sequences

Since v25.1 swapping between large sequences in premiere has been painfully slow
v25.0 vs 25.3 (same behaviour in v25.1 & 25.2, these are just the two versions I have installed rn). This is the exact same project file, using the exact same media/proxies etc
I tried to start this project in v25.1 funnily enough but just couldn't do it, swapping between sequences was killing me. I've had this happen for two projects now over all 3 versions since 25.1 while 25.0 has remained rock solid.

1. v25.1+
2. Windows 11 - 22631.4602, 7900x (and 9900x), 4070ti Super, everything on ssd's & prores proxies
3. have 2x 1-3h timelines with constant edits, swap between them.
4. I expect the sequences to swap instantly like 25.0 does, instead of taking multiple seconds to load before any inputs get registered.

Okay I think the embarrassing thing is that 24.6.5 absolutely SMOKES the current version of premiere????

v24.6.5 || v25.3(build47)

This is v25.2 public release. This seems genuinely painful... it takes almost 40 seconds to swap sequences and return control to me.. that surely cannot be intended behaviour.
Just to be fair, I redownloaded/installed v25.0 and ran the same test on the same sequences. Absolute night and day difference.

My best guess is it might in some way be related to dynamic waveforms? I've had them flash/almost regen sometimes when switching, but that's an absolute shot in the dark - and tbh timeline navigation in general just seems far inferior right now compared to 25.0 (same sequence as above^);
v25.0 - v25.3
