Prin files

Analyze is turned off, but its Premiere is still making prin files.

I don't want them.

They are making a mess of the Project folder.

Or please put them in their own folder.

Prin files still saved wrong in 26.3

The other problem when saving anything next to the project file, is with Productions, where we’re told to only have project files in the Production folder. I have a 3rd party program that saves files next to the project… PIA.

@Shebbe I hear you, there is definitely some friction in having this .prin file separate, but next to, the project file. Given the constraints we had when building this feature, it made the most sense for most people to put it where we did.

That said, we are working on further improvements to this whole workflow that I hope will address your problems. Nothing I can say yet, stay tuned!

Please do not out this data back into the project file (as a matter of fact take all the stabilize data out of the project file too).  I look forward to seeing this improvement you allude to.

Yes, please take the the Warp info out of the project, likely into a sidecar next to the file, and the prin info anywhere but next to the project.

I will empty the media cache and see how that goes.

Hey @mattchristensen ,

I'd like to add a question/request to that. We actually are interested in using the index data on some projects but the problem with the file being stored next to project is that versioning up your proj files and moving your old one to old now involves also always moving the prin file as well otherwise it adds up in the main proj location.

Would it be an idea to have it in it's own folder? Just like autosaves, caches etc. or perhaps embedded into the pproj file itself?

@Ann Bens If the analysis preference is off, but you import media and see a .prin file generated, it's because the media you import has analysis data already. This is by default stored in the Media Cache location, in the "Analyzer Cache" folder. So if you clear that folder (or just clear you whole Media Cache), you shouldn't see a .prin file being created anymore.

Hi Matt.

As I am unable to make new posts (due to this new forum)

I like to make a bugreport:

When I save a project as Save As the Prin file does not get copied over. Have to do this manually otherwise the Search is useless.

When I do a Save As the previous prin file gets copied and adds it own name again bu t does not update the date.
