Project could not be loaded, it may be damaged or contain outdated elements (v24.0.0, Build 23)

All the projects I made using Build 22 can no longer be opened by Build 23 on Windows 11

-Any project file I made (i've worked on a few) all return this error.

-Starting a new project and importing the file does not work (same error).

-Installing the only earlier beta build does not work, which is v23.6

My friend uses a Mac, where the latest Build is still 22. The file opens perfectly for them.

I was able to have them export it as an XML for a partial recovery (all effects, adjustments were lost)

Suggestions:

-Give beta users the ability to roll back to the previous build.

-If you haven't already, turn off auto updates or risk bricking any projects you're editing with the beta.

@Gilberg Antunes,

I wrote this yesterday and forgot to Post it!

The update will appear in the Cloud Desktop updates. It is not yet available as of a few minutes ago. (and not as of 7AM eastern US)

Several users, in this and other threads, are concerned because of deadlines. The Beta version often works very well. But there are also regular bugs, some of which make the version unusable until the next build, or less commonly, more than one build.

Be very cautious when using the Beta version for deadline-sensitive work. In the release versions, even though it is easier to roll back, I create a clone of my system drive so I can roll back everything.

Correction: The current version installed on my computer is Premiere Pro Beta 24, Build 23.

Looks like 24.0x23 is still the latest build. If x24 is coming out soon I'll test it with my previous project files.

A problem was discovered with the project files saved by Pr Beta 24.0x17 through 24.0x22. An attempt to fix this in 24.0x23 caused a crash when opening the projects. There is a further fix in Pr Beta 24.0x24 and these projects should now open without a crash. Please reply on the thread if you continue to see issues with these projects.

I just tested in Beta 24.0.0.23. I don't think you are running into the new project file version. I suspect you are using an effect or something that throws the damaged or outdated. Or maybe it's a Build 23 bug that will pass.

Just FYI, I opened a project from Beta 23.6.0.56. I received the "regular" message "This project was saved from a previous version of Premiere Pro (Beta) ... and must be converted" and a prompt to rename.

It allows the rename and opens without problem.

The earliest Beta 24.0.0 I installed was build 14. It was already Project File version 42. (I assume all 24.0.0 has been file version 42, but I don't know that.)

I posted this:

https://community.adobe.com/t5/premiere-pro-beta-discussions/fyi-beta-24-x-is-new-project-version/td-p/13974272

But as Ann points out there, you should get a prompt to update a project version that is earlier.

I can't load the Beta at the moment to test this.

Right, never set updates to occur automatically. I always clone my drive, so I can roll back.
