Text tool unable to edit

Steps to reproduce:
    1. Choose text tool

  1. Click within program window and type
  2. Click elsewhere
  3. Click, double-click, or triple-click, or click and drag to try to edit the text that was placed
     
    Result: ...Cannot select the text. Have to use the Graphics panel to change it.
    Expected: … To be able to select the live text and edit it.

This is a new project created in this version..

System info
    Application: Premiere Pro (Beta) v26.3.0.50
    OS: Windows v10.0.26200, RAM: 63.79 GB GB, CPUs (logical): 16

    It looks like this is fixed in today’s build  26.3.0 build 53.

    But if I try to move a text block around on the Program Monitor screen, the motion is not smooth and it’s hard to get it to go where I want it.

    Yes, that’s a workaround. It does not work that way from Effect Controls.

    What if you double clicked on the text in the properties panel.

    Text will be red all over and editable.

    Seems to be a known issue.
