Time Remapping Two-Up Preview Does Not Displaying When Moving Speed Keyframes

Product: Adobe Premiere Pro (Beta) (Build 21)

Version: 27.1 Beta

Operating System: macOS

Severity: Functionality regression affecting editing workflow

1. Summary

The two-up frame preview in the Program Monitor no longer appears when moving Time Remapping speed-transition keyframes in Premiere Pro Beta 27.1.

Instead of displaying the frames associated with the speed transition, the Program Monitor continues to display the frame at the current playhead position. This makes it difficult to visually identify and position the frames at which speed transitions begin and end.

2. Steps to Reproduce

Open Premiere Pro Beta 27.1.

Create a new sequence.

Add a video clip to the timeline.

Right-click the clip and select Show Clip Keyframes → Time Remapping → Speed.

Create a speed keyframe on the Time Remapping speed line.

Split the speed keyframe to create the two halves of a speed transition.

Click and drag one half of the speed keyframe.

3. Expected Behaviour

When dragging either half of the speed-transition keyframe, the Program Monitor should display the two-up preview, showing the frames associated with the transition.

This allows the editor to see the frames corresponding to the transition's start and end positions while adjusting the keyframe.

4. Actual Behaviour

The two-up preview does not appear.

The Program Monitor continues to display the frame at the current playhead position, rather than updating to show the frames associated with the speed transition being adjusted.

5. Troubleshooting Already Performed

The following tests have been completed:

Tested in a new sequence: The issue persists in a completely new sequence, ruling out an issue specific to the original edit.

Compared Program Monitor settings: The standard release and Beta have identical overlay settings, including Custom Overlay.

Tested modifier keys: Holding Command while dragging the speed keyframe does not restore the two-up preview.

Updated the Beta: Installed an available update, but the issue persists.

Compared against the standard release: Repeated the same test in the regular, non-beta version of Premiere Pro. The two-up preview appears immediately when dragging a speed-transition keyframe, as expected.

6. Impact

This behaviour removes a useful visual reference when editing speed ramps.

Without the two-up preview, it is more difficult to position speed transitions accurately by matching specific frames. This slows down the editing process and makes the Time Remapping workflow less practical.

The issue is particularly significant because the project I am currently working on will not open in the standard release of Premiere Pro, so switching versions is not a viable workaround.

7. Additional Information

The issue appears to be specific to Premiere Pro Beta 27.1, based on the comparison with the standard release.

The Program Monitor's general overlay settings are identical in both versions, and the problem persists after updating the Beta.

I have tried tested resetting the Beta's preferences resolves the issue to rule this out and the issue persists.

8. Requested Outcome

Please investigate why the two-up preview for Time Remapping speed keyframes is not appearing in Premiere Pro Beta 27.1 and determine whether this is a regression or a configuration-related issue.

Ideally, the expected two-up preview behaviour should be restored.

Your question will be moved to the beta shortly by a mod.
