Timeline, cuts and everything is broken when project from previous builds is opened on .023
I had been waiting for the new Premiere Pro Beta release for about a week in order to continue working on my project. However, after updating and opening the project in the latest beta, the timeline was broken.
Many clips in the timeline were affected, including both nested sequences and regular clips. The clip durations remained the same, but their internal start and end points were shifted earlier or later within those same durations. In other words, the clips stayed in place on the timeline with the same length, but the media shown inside those clips no longer matched the original edit.
This caused the edit to become unusable, as many shots now display the wrong portion of the source media or nested sequence.
Also cutting the clips is also shifting the clip resulting in not cutting where it was attended.
Expected result:
Opening the project in the new beta should preserve the timeline exactly as it was saved: clip positions, durations, source in/out points, nested sequence timing, and media offsets should remain unchanged.
Actual result:
After opening the project, many clips kept their original timeline duration but their source in/out points were shifted. This affected both normal clips and nested clips, causing the timeline edit to be incorrect.
Cutting the clips is also shifting the clip resulting in not cutting where it was attended.
Steps to reproduce:
- Open a project created or edited in a previous Premiere Pro Beta version.
- Open the same project in the latest Premiere Pro Beta release.
- Inspect the timeline.
- Compare affected clips with the previous version of the project or expected edit.
- Notice that some clips have the same duration and timeline position, but the visible media content has shifted earlier or later.
- (+cutting the clip)
Impact:
This is a blocking issue for my project. The timeline can no longer be trusted because many edits are no longer showing the intended media ranges. Manually checking and fixing every affected clip would be extremely time-consuming and risky.
Additional notes:
The issue does not appear to be a simple relinking or offline media problem. The clips are still present and retain their durations, but their internal timing/source offsets have changed.
