Won't play at normal speed

I'm having ana odd issue that I can't figure out if it's my system or a beta bug.

Steps to reproduce:
    1. Start a new project, import footage

2. Create new sequence from clip

3. Start to edit footage, hit spacebar to play

4. It plays OK

5. Edit some more and hit spacebar to play

6. It plays at 2x normal speed.    Can't make it play normally.

WORKAROUND:

Click in another app (like the browser to type this message)

Go back to timeline and hit Play

It plays normally...for now.

Any clues, anyone?
