Paragraph text resize handles disappeared in Photoshop on iPad

Description:
Hi, I’m experiencing an issue with Photoshop on iPad where the resize handles for paragraph text boxes have disappeared.

The text is definitely set as paragraph text and the blue dotted bounding box is still visible, but the circular handles that normally allow me to resize the text container horizontally or vertically are no longer showing.

The issue affects both existing text boxes and newly created paragraph text boxes.

I have already:

  • closed and reopened Photoshop,

  • restarted the iPad,

  • updated iPadOS,

  • confirmed that Photoshop is up to date,

  • tested the issue in a new document and with a newly created paragraph text box.

The problem still persists.

Could you please confirm whether this is a known bug and if there is currently any workaround?

I can provide screenshots and my exact iPad / iPadOS / Photoshop version if needed.

    I can reproduce this bug. 

    In Photoshop for desktop, resizing a paragraph text frame is done by dragging the handles with the Type tool. In Photoshop for iPad, the resize handles are missing when the Type tool is selected. There is only a widget at the bottom to move the frame.

    The Scale and Rotate tool will scale the Paragraph text frame, but it also scales the text, the same as if Point text were being scaled.

    There is currently not a way to resize the frame for Paragraph text without also scaling the text. This is a bug.

    I just tested. When I click with the Type tool, I don’t get resize handles, just like you. There is a widget underneath to move the text frame — I see the widget in your video as well.

    I do get the resize handles — and they work correctly — when I use Scale and Rotate.

     

     

    • Point type: Scale and Rotate resizes the text
    • Paragraph type: Scale and Rotate resizes the frame and the type size remains the same

     

    I honestly don’t remember if this was a recent change or not, but it’s the way it works now.

    Please let us know if this resolves your issue.

    Hi Jane, thank you. Unfortunately, this doesn’t resolve the issue on my end.

    I am definitely using Paragraph Type, but when I select Scale and Rotate and resize the bounding box, the text scales together with the frame. The font size does not remain unchanged as it does in your test.

    What I need is to resize only the paragraph text container so that the text reflows within it, without changing the type size. This used to be possible directly with the text box handles.

    I’ll attach a screen recording showing the behaviour with Paragraph Type selected.

    I’m sure you know the difference between Point type and Paragraph type, but all the same, be sure you drag out a text frame with the type tool first before you start typing. 

    In my screen recording, the first part is with Paragraph type, where only the frame resizes. The second part is with Point text, where the text resizes. 

    Please try with a new text frame in a new document. Start recording when you create the text frame and type the text, then show the resizing again.

    We have to figure out why it’s working for me and not for you.

    • Your iPad model (e.g., iPad Pro M1 12.9-inch, iPad Air M4, etc.)
    • Your iPadOS version
    • Photoshop version
    • Are you using an Apple Pencil, Magic Keyboard Touchpad, your finger, or any other accessory?
    • A short screen recording showing the issue would be extremely helpful for our team.


    Once you share the details above, I'll be able to escalate this to the right team for further investigation.

      Hi Anshul,

      Thank you for getting back to me. Here are the details:

      • iPad model: iPad Pro 12.9-inch (5th generation)

      • Model number: MHNH3FD/A

      • iPadOS: 26.6.1
        The issue was already present before I updated iPadOS, so the update itself does not seem to have caused it.

      • Photoshop version: 7.8.2 (20260825.753)

      • Input methods/accessories: I use my finger, Apple Pencil, and Magic Keyboard with trackpad. The issue occurs regardless of which input method I use.

      The problem affects both existing paragraph text boxes and newly created ones. The text container itself is visible, but the circular resize handles no longer appear.

      I’ll also attach a short screen recording showing the issue.
