My question is whether there's a simpler way to do the following than what I've discovered on my own. My user will run a query and make selections of items (MID) from a table. These MIDs will be stored in another table along with the user's UserID. This will allow the user to tailor another query to be populated only with these MIDs. The user might make one set of selections and then replace it later with a different set of selections.  Right now, I'm not worrying about how to code the CFML to produce the query I send to MySQL. When I installed CF 2021 Ent I accepted the defaults like I normally do and set up the instances and all run just fine. BUT now I want to use performance monitoring toolset to monitor those instances from a remote machine and cannot make it work. CF is running everything on the internal server as localhost or 127.0.0.1 and since those are not reachable from a remote machine PMT will not connect to each instance. If I use the domain name assigned to the IIS site for an instance and port 8500, the result is a server 500 error. I assume that when I installed CF I should have specified the DNS hostname for the EC2 server instead of localhost in order to make this work, but server is in production and I cannot re-install coldfusion. So is there any way to edit config files for the internal web server used for admin and PMT to use the hostname of the server instead of localhost or 127.0.0.1? Thanks

We have a new AWS Windows server, according to AWS sizing, this server has 4 cores. We want to install ColdFusion 2021 Standard on it. It sounds like we will need two licenses. So how do we do this?Do we just purchase 2 copies of CF 2021 Standard? Presumably we will end up with 2 serial numbers. How do we get both serial numbers into the install?Thanks

I am having problems converting XML data into the appropriate data types using a function. I have read in an XML file using XmlParse(). Within that there is an array which I loop around. <Cfloop array=#i.Task# index="t"> My understanding is that the items in this array are XML text. I can display all the items with CFoutput no problem. One item in the array (BaseLineColor) is a colour. #t.BaseLineColor# However this colour value is a single decimal integer number of varying length. I have worked out the maths to convert this decimal number into R,G,B decimal values. All good so far. The problem is that if I try mathematical functions on BaseLineColor, then I get:The value ?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"? BaseLineColor 255 /BaseLineColor cannot be converted to a number. So OK I have tried a few methods to try and convert BaseLineColor to an integer but nothing works. Val() doesn't work. I am attempting to run the CF 2018 Auto-Lockdown tool.  When I get to the ColdFusion Configuration and select the available instance of cfusion I get the following error: "ColdFusion server is nor running.  Please start the server and try again." All ColdFusion services are running and I am able to log into the admin portal. I have restarted services and rebooted the maching with the same result. I also could not find any recent documentation on how to lockdown CF 2018 manually since the tool was failing. Thanks.

When installing 2021 on macOSX Big Sur throws error,  “libCFXNeo.jnilib” cannot be opened because the developer cannot be verified. This appears to be a notorization issue with Apple.  This happens with every mouse click.  My guess is the dev team used a forged certificate, which is common, and a full notorization needs to be approved by Apple. Or maybe I should shut my mouth.

I want to set my Creative Cloud Files folder as my wwwroot folder on my Mac Big Sur 11.4 machine. My "plan" was to install PMY on my home server and use it to monitor a clients AWS server instances and fire alerts etc. My problem is that if I manually add an instance to PMT on my local machine to connect to the AWS server it does not connect. I think the issue is that all instances on AWS are using the internal CF server for admin, running on 127.0.0.1. I do have all the necessary ports opened for PMT and Datastore, and I can access CF admin for each instance using this url format: <my domain name>:8500/CFIDE/administrator/index.cfm If in PMT I set the instance to use something like <my domain name> and port 8500 and set the correct secret, the result is the html of of 500 server error page when it fails. So I am not sure how to monitor a remote instance in PMT from my local machine. Any advice appreciated as always!  Thanks  

I have a new Windows 2019 server running CF21.I moved my main site, and intranet, over and all went well.I added an additional site, and extranet, and cfm pages will not load.I created an index.cfm page that displays simple text and the current date.https://harvardtransfusion.partners.org/ displays correctlyhttps://harvardtransfusion.partners.org/index.cfm gives a 404 error.Any thoughts on what I need to do to correct this?  Please be kind as I am not a programmer, but a Blood Banker.  🙂Thank you

Hello -  My company is in the final stages of a months long project testing and tweaking our CF application to work with CF 2018.  The project was set to go live at the beginning of next month.  Now it appears CF 2021 has been released, and appears to be unavailable for purchase.    We do not have the testing and development manpower to confirm our web applications compatibility with CF2021 in the next couple of weeks.  If there any backward licensing possible where we would buy licenses fro CF 20201 enterprise, but be able to install CF2018 enterprise until we are ready to migrate to CF 2021? Failing that, is it even possible to still purchase CF 2018?   And if so, would it be possible to qualify for the complimentary upgrade?  We plan to purchase 3 or 4 enterprise licenses, pending a final business decision.Thank you, -Anthony

Installed PMT and Datastore on my Windows 10 machine. Everything goes well until it tries to start the PMT service. It eventually times out. If I try to start from services panel I get the same result. A check of the PMT logs shows nothing as far as errors. Checking windows event logs shows these: The ColdFusion 2021 Performance Monitoring Toolset service killed process with pid 25056. The ColdFusion 2021 Performance Monitoring Toolset service could not be started within 240 seconds. Increase the server startup timeout value using C:\ColdFusion2021PerformanceMonitoringToolset\bin\perfmontoolsetsvc.exe -starttimeout <seconds> "ColdFusion 2021 Performance Monitoring Toolset". I tried changing the timeout and it still won't start. This was my thrid attempt at uninstall and reinstall of PMT. On the first two attempts I also got this error: Windows cannot load the extensible counter DLL "cfperfmon_2021.dll" (Win32 error code The specified module coul

A lot of shared hosting uses very old versions of ColdFusion. Mine at dailyrazor only uses v10 and apparently I have no serious options for upgrade (at least affordably). (July2021) All the CF10 examples and docs now don't work for amazon S3 (cfhttp, cfdirectory, cffile) because S3 now requires the version 4 signage of credentials, and the hash options of the old CF versions don't handle that. At least... that is what I seem to get from everything I'm reading. So how do people still using old versions of coldfusion, interact with S3? Is there some workaround? Would greatly appreciate any guidance.  PJ

In the example below, assume FORM.NAME has an embedded single quote. Does someone have a moment to explain why <CFQUERY NAME="A" DATASOURCE="MY_LOCALHOST">INSERT INTO TEST (NAME) VALUES ('#FORM.NAME#')</CFQUERY> works perfectly, but if I put the SQL in a variable it fails.  For example, <CFSET lsSql = "INSERT INTO TEST (NAME) VALUES ('#FORM.NAME#')"><CFQUERY NAME="A" DATASOURCE="MY_LOCALHOST">#lsSql#</CFQUERY> fails.  Any idea why?  Or, alternatively, how could I hcvae constructed lsSql so that it would work? Thanks.ps: And using #PreserveSingleQuotes(lsSql)# didn't help. 

I have a simple CF web site where all of the .cfm is in the same directory. I can not use client cookies as the people I am writing this for have cookies turned off in IE, therefore I am using J2EE session variables and CFLOGIN in an application.cfm file (code attached) for authentication. Everything works correctly during login and I can see the encrypted username/password as the cfauthorization session variable.... Hi, I tried to set null to property and I am usingproperty name="Company" type="string" setter="true" getter="true" default="null"; and for some reason when I serialized it, the data is becoming string instead of null value although I checked the "Enable Null Support".Any idea how to set this up or is this a bug? Thanks.

The FileUpload() and <cffile> method throw an error if you upload files with special characters like "öäu".Everything is set to UTF-8. With ColdFusion 11 we did not have this problem.Does anybody has any idea?RegardsAndy

Consider this function which returns whatever its input is::<cffunction name="FredTest" output="yes" access="public" returnType="string"><cfargument name="lsVarIn" type="string" required="true"/><cfreturn lsVarIn /></cffunction>I test the function using: ABC#FredTest("DEF")#GHII expected to see the output as ABCDEFGHI but instead got ABC DEFGHI.  I can't figure out why.  Everytime I try to use cffunction to return a string CF adds a space in front of the output.  Any idea why?  Thanks.
