Why can't a website be added in content credentials?

It is still not clear why someone's brand for their work has to be associated with some third party platform.  Why not allow someone's domain name/website?  Verification can be done like it is on platforms like Mastodon or Bluesky.   This way your brand is independent of any big tech account and you control it, not some platform.   This is where CR will fail for creators if it is not made independent of a social account.
