Allow me to select a default "save as" file type

It is just one more out of MANY steps I have to perform each time I have to go in and select my file type while saving a file. There's also the opportunity to accidentally select the wrong type (because MP3 and MP2 are RIGHT NEXT to one another). Having a DEFAULT file type to save to would save a LOT of time.

Aug of 2021 and this is still not a thing?

Please Add to Audition > Prefs > Saving > Default Format > (Whatever you want like MP3)

I don't use Wav, NOT going to use it.

30+ years I been using Adobe products and this is just dumb. Put your best peeps on this and take a few minutes to add it to preferences. Don't bother convincing me "Wav is better". Wav doesn't fit in my workflow, MP3 does.

Give people a choice for their unique workflow = better than forcing them into a format they don't want to use. Plus add hundreds of steps over a long period of time to their workflow.

Thanks. ❤️🤘

Hi, Randall.

The File > Save As command always defaults to the settings of the original audio file, where File > Export will always default to the last-used settings. The main reason for this distinction is that a "save" command does not carry any implication about the possibility of data loss due to converting to a lossy compressed format.

We're looking at File Format presets, like Effects presets but for specific codec and destination settings, that might make this simpler and more straightforward across the board.

Default save info is alway a problem in Adobe. Should have a default and current location option. I hate having to spend time relocating the save info when I open a new project.

Please! This would make my life so much easier. If there was a panel in preferences to select defaults, or if it would even just remember my previous choices and have a way to revert back to the 32bit WAV formats that would be good as well.

I'm constantly having to make a ton of audio cuts for radio news segments and our automation/editing server can't support WAV files, or files outside of being able to just save as .mp3 16bit at 44100hz every time would make life so much easier and I wouldn't' end up with duplicate files because I missed a step.

The older versions of adobe didn't do this. You could select a default file save type for whatever your personal needs were. Have you counted how many more steps are added as a result of this decision? When you are using the program for large amounts of voice work and working with multiple files it creates a major slowdown to a work flow. It's very redundant.
