Create a ripple insert function (like many of your competitors have)

A function that inserts clipboard contents into a clip instead of overwriting existing content. I realize this might be a duplicate entry but it seems your customers have been asking for this feature for a LONG time and yet no priority is placed on it. So to hopefully make the thorn in the proverbial shoe bigger...

Thanks for the idea. Unfortunately, it still doesn't work in the method I'm trying which does work in other DAWs, which is to be able to copy a piece of audio in Multitrack and then paste that audio in a track in a way that moves the rest of the audio along. Yes, I relize that I could copy that audio into a new file, then use insert mode to insert the audio, but this creates an unnecesarry step and an extra file that I don't want to keep track of. Additionally, I realize I could go into Waveform, highlight a section, use insert mode, and go back into Multitrack, but again, it is an unnecesarry step. If I can copy and paste audio in Multitrack without going into Waveform, I should be able to ripple insert the same audio without needing to go into Waveform. If there is a way to do that, I haven't found it yet in Audition, but I have in other DAWs.

I think you'll find that Insert mode does exactly that - shoves the audio along, making the file longer.

Thank you! Mix Paste will work fine in Waveform, however, it doesn't offer the same functionality that Ripple Delete does in Multitrack (moving all subsequent clips to allow for pasted audio)

These functions are still all present if you select Mix Paste, rather than just Paste:

If you want to see it in action, there's a YouTube video:

Yes, yes, 100x yes! It is crazy that cheaper and far inferior DAWs have this feature but the engineers at Adobe can't seem to figure it out.

Unless I am misunderstanding what you are after, this always used to be available as one of the options for "Mix Paste". Has it been removed in later versions then?

The options were:

Insert:- Inserts audio at the current location or selection, replacing any selected data. If no data is selected, Adobe Audition inserts audio at the cursor location, moving any existing data to the end of the inserted material. <--- THIS ONE

Overlap:- Mixes audio at the selected volume level with the current waveform. If the audio is longer than the current waveform, the current waveform is lengthened to accommodate the pasted audio.

Replace:- Overdubs the audio beginning at the cursor location, and replaces the existing material thereafter for the
duration of audio. For example, pasting 5 seconds of material replaces the first 5 seconds after the cursor.

Modulate:- Modulates the audio with the current waveform for an interesting effect. The result is similar to overlapping, except that the values of the two waveforms are multiplied by each other, sample by sample, instead of added.

Great to have the ´Ripple delete´-option. But very strange not to include the logical counterpart ´Ripple insert´. Somewhat like an arm with a biceps but no triceps.

Yes, this. It is frustrating when editing a podcast in multitrack to have no quick option to insert, for example, a short clip of room noise when you need the pause between two speakers to be longer. This shouldn't require the workaround it does.
