Hand tool in audition

I do a lot of editing in Audition. I understand that the space bar is used to start and stop playing. However, if an alternative button was available, to turn the cursor into a hand to move the editor display to the right or left instead of selecting audio, it would be excellent. Having to move the cursor back and forth from the top of the panel and back to selection is cumbersom at best.

OK, I found that there is a 'Hand Tool' it's just not listed in the documentation for 'shortcuts'.

The solution is for the user to USE THE MIDDLE MOUSE BUTTON.  This is the 'Hand Tool' like found in other Adobe products.

This doesn't change my opinion re: Adobe.  It just re-enforces it.

PS:  am I understanding that this "Adobe Community" forum doesn't have a built-in Spell Checker???  I can see edit tools for formating text here, but no spell-checker.....????  LOL.  Adobe = clowns

PS:  I've been doing high-end visual effects using Adobe, Autodesk, Foundery, et. al. since 1998.  So if you disagree with my opinion, just know it's coming from a seasoned veteran of the 'Post Production' world.

NO 'HAND TOOL' FOR ADOBE AUDITION????? (example #10257 of "why Adobe HATES its customers, and does not make professional software!")  How is it possible that in 2023??? I'm using the newest 2024 edition, and according to Wikipedia Adobe had owned/developed this software since 2003.  2003. So you're telling me in 20 years, they couldn't be bothered to add the super useful, and USER FRIENDLY 'Hand Tool'??? WTF?

Need proof that Adobe just abuses their customers sadistically.  Here it is.  Adobe HATES their customers.

I'm working with a large monitor, and editing only 35 minutes of speech inside Audition, and it PAINFUL.  PAINFUL.

ok, thanks, that's a little better; at least it moves the way you drag it.

I realise that it's not ergonomically brilliant, but it's certainly possible also to move the time line itself without hitting the ribbon strip; if you click the mouse on the timeline, not where the cursor is, it will turn into what looks like a fist, and you can drag it from there as well. Personally I don't like the drag strip at all as it's presently configured - the whole arrangement could be better, but the chances of getting this altered are probably closely approaching zero - from the minus side...
