Match Clip Loudness by Selection

When applying "Match Clip Loudness", I would like to set it by time segments. I often have audio clips that I need to correct that have seconds or minutes of very quiet audio, followed by seconds or minutes of very loud audio. The only way I can figure to do this now is by cutting up the audio to different tracks or files, apply "Match Clip Loudness" and then merge them back together. It would be nice if you could simply select part of the audio, tell it to match loudness, then select another portion and do it again.

I agree that would be helpful. As another means to get your result, dynamic compression was invented to solve your issue. You should try adding either Single Band Compressor or Dynamics Processing from Effects Rack as a first step to even out your audio. (If you don't know how a compressor works, you'll want to read up on that because it's not intuitive.)
