multi track audio syncing in Audition

It would be great if Audition could sync multiple tracks from different sources / files like in premiere pro.

We record a pod cast and use a few different recording sources. It would be great if Audition could sync the files so they were in time with each other.

Yes, it might be good, but there’s a bit of a technical problem. Okay, Premiere can do a nice sync job - to about a video frame accuracy, which is good enough for most people doing multi-camera work, and these frames are easy enough to spot, as you get a sensible number of them in a second - between 25 and 30 of them. All with nice clean defined boundaries.

But with audio, there’s a bit (okay, a lot) of a snag. Typically there are 48,000 samples in a second, and they all look the same. What exactly are you going to sync to? To get two sources of audio to line up without phase issues, the lock has to be sample-accurate - which means about 2000x more accurate than Premiere is doing with your video. And you haven’t got a reference point.

Quite frankly, if you just want audio to more-or-less llne up, for the purposes of generally syncing some sources then you might as well use Premiere - because it works with frames. Or, do what I do with Audition, which is to record a sync marker on each track and line those up in Multitrack view. Most modern clock sources are pretty stable, and for the purposes of a podcast will easily remain in good enough sync for up to an hour.

So I am afraid that what you are all asking for is only possible using an app that uses frames. Any app with no reference points won’t be able to do it. Premiere does it by aligning cue points (frame junctures), and you put markers on them, but it never accurately aligns audio, as it simply can’t - the granularity is your frame rate.

We are in 2026 now an still.. Why is it not possible to synchronize 2 audio clips in Audition, when it is possible in Premiere and Audition is actually the dedicated audio processing software? I don't understand that. It's really a feature that would make total sense there, and I find it ridiculous to have to open Premiere first just to be able to synchronize.

Ok it's now 2024. Is there still no native functionality for this, or third party plugin?

YESSSSS!  So frustrating that my co-worker with Premiere has to do this for me since Audition doesn't.

This is so needed. Im working quite often with podcasts now, (steep learning curve) Ive been able to auto sync audio/video on premiere for years with multicam functions and synchronise. This would save so much time in audition If could sync my reference track audio ( a zoom audio file, presenters are recording in part on zoom from different places in the world) with the professional recorders the podcasters are using in their respective homes.

With an auto synchronise function I could select the zoom audio track and get it to sync against the pro audio eventually muting or removing the reference track completely.

We are in 2022. I can not beleive, that a dedicated VIDEO editing sotware Adobe Premiere Pro HAS audio synchronisation, and the DEDICATED AUDIO software Adobe Audition has NOT ... I mean, seriously?
