urgently need a light mode

I am sorry to repeat this but I feel it is URGENT. I have bright lights behind my desk that I cannot avoid (an open window) and I can't see the interface properly because it is on a black background. We seriously seriously seriously need to be able to make the background a light colour. I can't see what i am doing on a sunny day and I can't move the window nor myself. The same goes for Premiere. I know there are many people who find the dark background unacceptable. it is not a fashion statement, it is a practicality and a VERY much needed issue to have resolved.

Kind regards
Mike Howell

That's all fine and dandy, but officially I have to remind you that there are dragons lurking in the Debug Database - take care when playing with it...

I was having the same issue as you and found this. https://community.musicradiocreative.com/t/audition-secrets-white-ui-custom-colors-and-hidden-effects/288

quote

To enable these hidden features, you first need to open the Audition Developer Console, which can be done on both Mac and Windows:

Mac: CMD F12 If you are on a MacBook like me, with default keyboard settings, the shortcut would instead be: FN + CMD + F12.

Win: CTRL + F12 Once again, if you are running Audition on a laptop you may need to use this shortcut instead: FN + CTRL + F12.

This should open a panel with a console window, from here use the panel button(the three lines next to the title of the panel.) In the menu that appears, choose “Debug Database View”. Now you’ll be presented with a nice list of things you can enable or disable. Most of it is boring debug stuff, like FPS counters and error logging. But a few options stand out as useful.

The setting you are looking for to get a light theme is

  • AuUI.EnableLightTheme

Once you have that enabled then you go in to edit-> preference->apperance -> general -> brightness >50%

Similar issue, over 55 years old even with my glasses it's a little difficult to read this white on black color scheme.
My kids all have this with their apps.
I wonder if they're just trying to be trendy, anyway,
I really wish they had a simple black on white version. I tried edit preferences appearances all the options nothing seems to get what I want. May try another DAW.

I have tried using the options mentioned below. Sadly, they are "not good enough". I (and I'm sure many others) need to be able to actually have a genuine light grey background as a colour for the panels. The options under the appearance section of preferences do little more than adjust the degree of blackness. Like this page is in the browser, I need a light grey background to be able to see what I am doing.

Have you tried using the Appearance option under Preferences? There you can adjust background color, tint, etc.
