Painter: Allow Manual UV unwrapping & Improved Exporting...

Hoping that Painter (loving it!) can have an expansion on the methods for UV Unwrapping (manual) as well as when exporting mesh and textures Texel features could be added.

This way the appearance of a painted texture could be better made and represented on export as currently they are a little 'fuzzy'.

Would be fantastic to be able to export as DDS format too!   This is a more personal hope as I have to manually convert them in paint.net.

Thanks.

I think it would be fantastic if Painter continues to improve its automatic UV unwrapping feature, as I personally dislike manual unwrapping (though I know some enjoy it). It would be great if the algorithm could offer smart, fully automatic unwrapping options, allowing users to easily divide islands based on the mesh’s structure without much input. For instance, if you're working on a sword, the algorithm could automatically present different layout options—one that keeps the blade and bladeholder together, or another that splits them. In short, it would be amazing if Painter could automatically recognize the mesh type and provide a more tailored, efficient unwrapping solution while keeping the process completely streamlined.

Hi @Stepo Kedur,

Thank you very much for the suggestion!

Considering this is such an important part of texturing, I'd also love to see UV Unwrapping inside Substance 3D Painter!

We are frequently discussing about import & export inside Substance 3D Painter to simplify the workflow. The automatic Unwrapping feature was a part of this and to be honest, we're currently looking more for automatic solutions, than manual solutions.
