Feature Request: "Ghost Path" / Dynamic Reference Path During Editing

Dear Adobe Illustrator Development Team,

I am writing to propose the implementation of a feature that would significantly improve workflow and precision in vector drawing: the automatic transparent visualization of the original path during edits, similar to an "Onion Skin" or "Ghost Path" effect.

Currently, when moving anchor points or directional handles with the Direct Selection tool, the original curve disappears. To maintain a visual reference of the previous state, it is necessary to duplicate the path, lock it, assign a contrasting color, and finally delete it once the adjustment is complete. In fields where extreme geometric precision is required, such as product design, technical drafting, or the preparation of structured technical spec sheets, this manual and repetitive workaround causes constant interruptions to the workflow.

The solution I am proposing consists of adding an option (which could be enabled via General Preferences or by holding a modifier key) that keeps a low-opacity trace of the starting shape visible as long as a point or handle is being dragged. Upon releasing the cursor, the ghost path would disappear, and the path would assume its new shape.

A feature of this kind would reduce revision times for complex paths, making the editing experience much more fluid and intuitive, while providing immediate control over deformations and proportions.
