Illustrator beta takes over all ai documents.

Whenever I install an Adobe beta app, it seems to take over as though it were the only version installed. I need Illustrator Beta to open only the documents I specifically choose, not replace the current version of Illustrator as the default.

Please keep beta apps separate. The standard versions of Bridge, Illustrator, and Photoshop should remain the default applications, while the beta versions should open only when manually selected.

Hello @bluebrad I have shifted this post to the feature request section as this is not a bug but a change of behavior requested.

You can manually reassign file associations back to the stable version.

    On macOS:

    • Right-click any .ai file in Finder
    • Select Get Info
    • Under Open With, select the stable version of Illustrator
    • Click Change All to apply to all files of that type

    On Windows:

    • Go to Settings > Apps > Default Apps
    • Search for Illustrator or the .ai file extension
    • Manually set the stable version as the default

i did that and it still would not work even windows would not split the version so i had to uninstall both and reinstall to get back to work.

Illustrator is open almost 24/7 and just about the same for Bridge and Photoshop
