Subject: Please Restore the Previous Object Selection Behavior
I would like to report an issue with the new object selection behavior in the latest Illustrator update.
The previous selection workflow was much faster and more intuitive. I could simply drag a selection box around multiple objects and select them together, then move or resize them easily. This was especially useful when working with logos and complex vector designs that contain many separate elements.
After the latest update, the selection process has become unnecessarily complicated. I now need additional keyboard combinations in situations where they were not previously required. This adds extra steps to very basic actions and makes the overall workflow significantly slower and less comfortable.
This is not simply a matter of being “used to the old version.” The previous behavior required fewer actions and was objectively more efficient for selecting and moving multiple objects.
I have already reset Illustrator preferences and even completely uninstalled and reinstalled Illustrator, but the behavior remains the same. I also tested it with regular images and different files, so the issue is not limited to a specific document or logo.
Please consider restoring the previous selection behavior or, at minimum, adding an option in Preferences that allows users to choose between the previous and new selection behavior.
The previous workflow was simple, efficient, and much better suited to professional graphic design. Changing such a fundamental interaction without giving users the option to keep the previous behavior makes everyday work unnecessarily frustrating.
I sincerely hope Adobe will reconsider this change and give users the choice to work with the previous selection behavior.
Thank you.
