The dynamic text feature always creates its block of text aligned to the top left. If I need it centered horizontally or vertically, I cannot do this, nor can I align it to the right hand side.

When using the dynamic text feature in Illustrator Beta (particularly when using as variables) the type always aligns to the top and the left, despite what size I make the textframe. This is frustrating if the space I need to fill needs to be centered or right aligned horizontally; or if it needs to be vertically centered or aligned to the bottom. I’ve attached a zip file that contains the illustrator file, the data used, and screen captures when I prepare the file.

Hello @Colin Flashman thank you for raising this.

This is actually not a capability for Dynamic Text i.e. the feature doesn’t currently support text alignment.

This is worth registering as a feature request so the team can track demand for it. I’d encourage you to submit it on UserVoice (https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657-illustrator-desktop-feature-requests) describing your specific use case (variables that need to fill centered or vertically aligned text frames) will help make the case clearly to the product team.

I am shifting this to the feature request section and closing this request from here.
