Add Accurate Filter Criteria to Select AI modified files

Adobe has gone all in with AI in Lightroom.  This make a lot of sense.  However, Adobe has been sloppy in keeping clear delineation between what counts as an AI modification and has made it near impossible to confidently and quickly identify files with AI modifications.

For example: Lightroom currently identifies NON AI Heal as an AI update, making it impossible to separate files with Heal vs Generative Remove.

Another example; Lightroom provides a filter “Has AI”, except it traps everything that remotely appears to be touched by AI.  AI Masks are an example.  Yes the Mask is generated by AI, but this in no way changes the  pixels,  and is not an AI change to the image.

Please cleanup your AI filtering and identification logic so it is clear and discoverable which images have AI tools used verses which images have AI edits.

Precise terminology has never been LR’s strong suit, to say the least, and the situation has gotten more confusing with all the new “AI” commands introduced. But LR’s search in the last few versions does allow you to discover exactly which tools have been used.

The filter / smart-collection criterion “AI Edit” will identify which tool incorporating some vague “AI” technology has been used: Denoise, Super Resolution, Raw Details, Reflection Removal, Distracting People Removal, Blemish Removal, Dust Removal, Generative Expand, AI Remove, Lens Blur, Adaptive Profile, AI Masking.

“AI Remove” includes both Content-Aware Remove and Generative AI Remove but not Heal or Clone. You can distinguish all Remove modes using the “Remove (Manual)” criterion: Remove - Content-Aware, Remove - Generative AI, Heal, Clone.

The criterion “Has Generative AI” identifies photos that have used the Adobe Firefly Generative AI technology. The currently includes Generative AI Remove and  Distraction Removal > People.

The criterion “Masking” identifies the type of masks applied.

Lightroom currently identifies NON AI Heal as an AI update, making it impossible to separate files with Heal vs Generative Remove.

More precisely, a photo with an AI mask that has had Heal or Clone applied on top of the mask will be identified as “Needs AI Update”.

To distinguish the Remove modes applied to a photo (Content-Aware, Generative AI, Heal, Clone), use the criterion “Remove (Manual)”.

Thanks for that, I have scanned past the “Remove (Manual)” a thousand times but since its name is, “Manual” let it slip though my fingers.   Guess my Adobe Decoder Ring Issues is stuck on “Lenient” vs “Strict” (or some other menu wording obfuscation).

Adobe does a poor job of documenting all this.
