Capture time based "folder split" on imports

One feature I still find lacking after switching from Apple Aperture is the ability to “split folders based on shooting time.”

This feature splits the folder if the interval between shots exceeds a specified duration.

If the Lightroom plugin SDK exposed functionality for creating folders or moving photos, I would likely have already implemented all of these features.

I don’t think there is much demand for this. Especially as the workaround is pretty simple (Select group 1 of images and import into folder A. Then select group 2 of images and import into folder B.

I have never found it at all difficult to see where there was a significant enough time gap to not be able to easily see this in the grid. Eg Set 1 = Grand Canyou and set 2 = Sedona. Or set 1 = zoo, set 2 = Fred’s B’day party.

Don't you think it would be convenient if the kind of workaround you suggested were automated?
Moreover, this is a process—much like "assisted culling"—that relies purely on calculation rather than subjective intuition.
I never expected to face that sort of objection in a computer software forum.

The question of demand is legitimate, and logical in a computer forum. Adobe cannot possibly add every single suggestion that is ever made by one single user into Lightroom Classic. They don’t have unlimited resources, and if they would add everything that anybody had ever suggested, then Lightroom Classic would become a 100GB install that runs as fast as a slug on even the most powerful hardware. They must make choices, whether we like it or not. That is also why there is a voting system for feature requests. That’s not simply so the most voted for request will be done first, but to get an idea how many people would think this is useful in the first place. I agree with @Califdan2 that this suggestion would probably get very few votes.
