Make Import Errors Actionable and Add Support for 1-Bit TIFF Images
Two simple improvements would make Lightroom Classic much more useful in professional production workflows:
1. Make the Import Results dialog interactive.
When Lightroom rejects files, users should be able to double-click to open them, reveal them in Finder/Explorer, fix the problem, and retry importing directly from the dialog. It should also explain the actual reason for rejection instead of displaying the generic "unsupported or damaged" message.
Manually locating rejected files in large, deeply nested production directories is an unnecessary waste of time.
2. Support 1-bit TIFF images in the Library module.
I regularly work with 1-bit black-and-white TIFFs (line art and bitmap graphics) in editorial and prepress production.
Lightroom isn't just a photo editor; it's also a digital asset manager. Even if 1-bit TIFFs cannot be edited in Develop, they should at least be importable, previewable, searchable, and cataloged.
Neither improvement should require a fundamental redesign, yet both would significantly streamline professional workflows.
As a minor additional improvement, Lightroom should automatically ignore macOS ._ metadata files rather than reporting them as damaged images.
