P: a way to... REVERSE / UNDO "write settings from disk"

Well, very unfortunately, and completely 100% user error but hey that's how mistakes occur... I got the indicator for "do you want to import settings from disk?" Yes, in this case I did. On one image. But I had my complete project set highlighted at the time and... poof.

Every edit I had made in today's edit session (only 2 hours...) went away, back to the original file "from disk". Everything - crops, clone/heal, develop settings, etc. Everything.

no problem... hit UNDO.

Uh, oops. No. That doesn't work.

So, because things are blissfully NON DESTRUCTIVE... should there not be a way to undo this gaffe/slip? I would HOPE so, because Undo is Undo. But...no luck here and I've had to re-edit to make my turnaround time deadline.

Lesson learned, as always. But wow. Painful lesson.

Suggestion to future developer changes in Lightroom Classic --- is there a way to redundantly write the xml / sidecar / catalog settings containing the edits to another file that WOULD, then allow such an "undo" to go back to the LIGHTROOM EDITS versus "write settings from disk"

Thank you
