P: Add "Is" and "Isn't" to all library filter and smart collection text fields

Thanks. That would work as well as using the exclamation point to manually exclude pics with certain other keywords, but it's clunky.

I'm trying to help my mom use Lightroom. It's amazing how Lightroom is so powerful and at the same time easy enough for the general public.

A method you might explore is to use the Metadata Filter instead.

Set the first column to show keywords and click on the "Family" Keyword in the resulting list.
Set the second column to show keywords also and it will show you a list of all keywords used in conjunction with "family: You can [CTRL]/[CMD] click to select as many or as few in the second column to drill in.

I am not saying it would work in your case but it might lead you to a working filter you could save as a Library filter preset.

I would like to see a text search option that is "contains only". Here's the use case. I have some photos tagged "family" and some tagged "family, old". The way Lightroom works now in order to show only the photos tagged "family" and exclude the ones that also have the "old" keyword is to do a text search for "family !old". The exclamation point tells LR to exclude the ones that have the "old" keyword.
But what if I have photos with various other keywords besides "old" in addition to "family". Then I'd have to manually exclude all the other keywords in order to see only the photo which have only the keyword "family"

A "contains only" option would fix this.

I found the is and is empty, where available, to be less than accurate. Sometimes it doesn't give the expected result.
