P: Add support for network (Wi-Fi and wired LAN) tethering for Sony cameras
For sound reasons (not least Windows on ARM support), Adobe has chosen to implement Sony tethering via Sony's Camera Remote Command documentation rather than the Sony Camera Remote SDK.
The latest version of the Sony Camera Remote Command documentation details how to access Sony cameras over PTP-IP, not just (USB) PTP as currently supported in Lightroom Classic. The tethering commands are the same, so most of the work is already done; the only remaining step is to add support for IP transport.
Please consider adding PTP-IP tethering for Sony cameras in a future version of Lightroom Classic. This would not only allow users to ditch their USB cables for studio tethering, but also to tether networked cameras that are remote from the computer running Lightroom Classic, including cameras installed with network connectivity in difficult-to-reach locations such as high above a sports stadium.
A further advantage of supporting PTP-IP tethering is that the need for Windows users to change USB drivers when switching between Sony Imaging Edge (and other Camera Remote SDK applications) and Lightroom Classic will become less of an issue, because users can opt for IP tethering instead of dealing with this issue. Therefore, the availability of network tethering may reduce Adobe's support burden for Sony tethering issues.
