P: Automatic Recall of Crop Tool Aspect Ratio

It would be great to choose whether or not the Crop Tool (R) recalls the previous aspect ratio. This way, users can set whether or not the previously used aspect ratio is automatically called up after activating the crop tool (pressing R) or if the crop tool defaults to the original, or any other, aspect ratio.

I realize a Crop Ratio is available in the Quick Develop panel, but that's a bit cumbersome as the general crops need to be made before working through each photo. Some users like to crop as a last step after the bulk of other adjustments have been made.

The option of utilizing the following workflow would be great:

Make various exposure adjustments
Press R
Mouse over to Crop dialogue
Select 8x10 ratio (for instance)
Adjust new 8x10 framing
Press R

Move to next photo
Make various exposure adjustments
Press R
8x10 ratio is already activated (because that was the previously used aspect ratio)
Adjust new 8x10 framing
Press R

Move to next photo..

My Any Crop plugin now lets you assign a keyboard shortcut to a crop preset, so you can apply your desired default crop quickly.

When shooting Tethered. Crop the first image to the default aspect ratio. Then, set the Develop Settings pulldown in the Tether dialog to "Same as Previous". It will honor that setting for the duration of the shoot.

No, but you can come pretty close. Go to Grid view and select all the photos. Your Quick Develop panel might be collapsed so click the disclosure triangle (marked 1) to show the Crop Ratios (marked 2) and then select your chosen ratio. Then when you go through in Develop, it'll already have that crop ratio applied and you can tweak to taste. Just be careful not include any photos you've already cropped, as it'll reset them.

Lightroom 4.3, is there any way to set a Default crop ratio, so that when I press the R key it will crop to my favorite (most used) crop ratio? I have set up a custom one, but it's really a PAIN, having to select the custom crop for each and every photo. (wedding shooter) I don't want to use the sync feature. I just want the crop ratio to default to a custom one.

The ability to turn off or on a parameter that specifies whether the crop tool should remember the last ratio or not after being selected.

For example, I shoot 35mm but often crop to 4:3. Each time I hit 'R' (crop tool shortcut), I'd like it to remember that ratio instead of having to constantly select it from the drop-down menu.

Thank you.

Hi Dan, you can save custom crop dimensions for future use, and hit the X key to rotate the crop tool.

YES!!!! I often make "slides" cut to iphone size.  repeatedly specifying 9 by 16 is a nightmare.  While you are at it, what about a simple way to shift from 9x16 to 16x9
