P: Change App Names

Lightroom Classic seems like a name that was given to an app that is meant to be phased out over time and I think many of us can agree that the 'Classic' version of Lightroom is a much needed application in studio and professional environments. Putting in a request to change the name from Lightroom Classic to Lightroom Studio. Also thought about including 'Lighty-Mc Lightface' as an option 😉.

If you're a Lightroom Classic user and don't like the 'Classic' in the name please share your thoughts here and perhaps Adobe marketing will agree and change it to something better.

Rikk, it doesn’t look like the merge actually happened.

As I wrote above, you're "free to make suggestions". However, I recommend that you don't hold your breath waiting for the suggestions to be acted upon.

The name changes have been confusing over the years. I don't see anything in the "Classic" term meaning that it will be phased out. Only Adobe knows their long term plans and they will never say until it happens.

It's very confusing when, especially in online forums, people do not use the proper name for an application. That always leads to many wrong assumtions and comments. It's important also to know and say what the version of the app you are talking about and the operationg system version, too.

Please use completely different names instead of Lightroom Classic and Lightroom (or Lightroom CC, or Lightroom Cloud...).

It is very confusing when trying to clarify which version of the software I'm talking about, or searching for help with, etc.  The names being so similar (and also periodically changing), causes too much unnecessary confusion.  They are fundamentally different programs, but they are the only two pieces of software in your collection that have these confusingly similar names.

I just think it would be nice whenever I say or type Lightroom, to not have to follow up with some further explanation to clarify which version I mean.

darkroom vs lightroom, or just Lightroom Classic changes to "Lightroom", and Lightroom CC changes to "Adobe Cloud", something like that?  Just make them totally different names from each other and it can be anything you like.

"I think Adobe marketing are still licking their wounds over that."

If only they recognized there are wounds to be licked 😆

You're free to make suggestions, but we still have a lot of confusion over the previous name change that took place in 2017.  I think Adobe marketing are still licking their wounds over that. So, don't hold your breath.

Ive called it many things over the years, most of which would be deleted or result in a ban if I documented them here. To me its still just "Lightroom".
