P: Facial recognition and Person shown rather than Keyword

Dear all,

I haven't seen this discussed elsewhere in the forum, sorry in advance if I missed something.

When I use facial recognition, Lightroom create a "person" keyword, and adds it to the list of keywords. At export, the name of that person is exported in two fields: Keywords, and Person Shown (IPTC Ext:PersonInImage).

I would like to have the following option: Facial recognition could populate directly the IPTC field that Lightroom calls "Person Shown" (see attached file), rather than entering it in a keyword.

If facial recognition would do that, then that person would only be in that IPTC Ext:PersonInImage field, and not in Keywords after export (I tried manually, it works very well).

After exporting, I am insterting the JPG files in a Digital Asset Management, and it causes problems to have that person name in both keywords and IPTC Ext:PersonInImage (or Person Shown).

Thanks in advance for considering this.

Cheers,
Louis

Hi John. Sorry, I didn't explain myself correctly.

I wanted to ask : Could you please make two options :

1. Propose to remove person information in both Keywords and Person Shown [the existing option]

2. Propose to remove person information only in Keywords (and keep it in Person Shown)

IPTC designed a specific field for people information. And I think this information has nothing to do with a keyword. That's why, it would be nice to be able to export person information ONLY in the "Person Shown" metadata.

Thank you

"Could you please make a way to propose to remove person information in both Keywords and Person Shown"

If you select the Export option Metadata > Remove Person Info, then the exported photo will not contain any of the person information.  It will be removed from the exported keyword fields (IPTC:Keywords, XMP:Subject, XMP:HierarchicalSubject)from the face region (XMP:RegionName), and XMP:PersonInImage (the location for IPTC Extension fields).

If you're seeing something different, please provide more details.

Dear Adobe Lightroom Support,

I am coming back to you about this. So far, the people discovered from facial recognition are exported in these two fields : keywords, and Person Shown. There is already a possibility at export to remove People Information. Could you please make a way to propose to remove person information in both Keywords and Person Shown, or just from Keywords please ?

That would be very helpful.

Thanks a lot,
Louis

While waiting for Adobe to implement this, you might ask the author of the Metadata Wrangler plugin to add an option that strips all Person keywords from exported photos. Currently, the plugin can strip all keywords, but it can't strip just Person keywords and leave the other keywords alone.
