P: Import filtering

Can you make use of the folders you already have, as shown in screenshot?

Say you wanted to import all photos within “Cam A” and “Cam B” subfolders, but none otherwise. Instead of highlighting the whole parent folder (and then needing to exclude lots of unwanted items) you could highlight just those two desired subfolders. 

Either you are doing an Add import and this separation into Cam A and CAM B will show - if no photos are imported from the others those will not show,

Or you are doing a Move or Copy import and that separation into original folders is in effect disregarded. Either way the current folders will have helped you define the subset to be imported.

I'm also missing this feature. I often use Lightroom to make some final general adjustments to a batch of PSD files, or to make multiple crop versions of a batch of images. I would be great if we could filter a file for starred images, or color labelled ones, or indeed file type. Because now I have to import the whole file with all versions of the images, and I just want to finalize the end result images. 

"And if I was to highlight the 60 video clips that it was ganging up with all my raw still image files, it doesn't allow me to just deselect those highlighted ones."

To exclude the video files from the import:

1. In the Import window, click Check All and Sort: Media Type.

2. Click on the first video.

3. Shift-click on the last video. All the videos are now highlighted.

4. Uncheck the box in the upper-left corner of one of the videos, and all the videos will uncheck.

5. When you click Import, only the remaining thumbnails that have check marks will be imported.

It's not as convenient as simply filtering by file type, but it gets the job done.
