P: Improve face matching algorithm/AI

I am working on scanning all our shoe boxes with photos, I am currently up to 9,184 images (still scanning more boxes). Since these are mostly family photos this seemed like a good project to try the People feature on. After spending multiple hours assigning names, I have 3,250 faces in the Confirmed collection and 10,733 remaining as Unnamed People. At this point (about 23%)  I seem to have reached the point where the face matching algorithm (Find Similar Faces) is producing mostly incorrect matches. I don't know how old the face matching algortithm is - I would hope that there is room for improvement. Thus, I would like to suggest that the algorithm for this be updated using the latest AI technology.

    I have a catalog of nearly 180,000 photos in Lightroom Classic, running v. 13.3.

     

    I tried turning on facial recognition across all my photos today and it's slow going. 

     

    It can't tell who's who even after you tag a nearly identical photo of that person.

     

    At this rate it feels like manually labeling more than any sort of "artificial" intelligence.

     

    This is way behind the industry on facial recognition; what is Adobe doing to improve this?

    It would be GREAT to have this feature work for filtering photos, obviously. Thanks.

      Sorry to say, but Adobe never tells us what enhancements or new features are on the way.

      I would like to reply to CS Chua.

      I have only been doing this for about a week or so, I don't think that the algorithm has changed in that time? Please correct me if I am wrong.

      You could redo the find faces again but do not tick the check boxes on the "Find Faces again?" dialog.
      Lightroom will remove the old faces and rerun the photos again with the latest face algo.
