P: List view for Library

I would like to have the ability to show items in the Library as a list, rather like one might see in a spreadsheet program. Very small thumbnail alongside columns of data. The columns could be customized in order or content.
This would allow for another method of sorting by various data.
Oh, and make this list view printable while youre at it 😉

Currently LRC supports creating/displaying groups with common properties, such as keywords, date, folder, collection, extension, etc.

Description:

Please add feature to output groups as TEXT, with presets specifying file-type (text, csv, pdf) and column headings (name, extension, date(s), ppi, dimensions, paths, rating, keywords).

Because text ouput is not available in LRC, I use ACDSee applications, which include most of these options.

Why This Is Valuable

Uses of text file list:

- Create list of files that I have have transferred so client can make sure they have all files

- Create batch files to copy specific files to folders, dropbox, and thumbdrives

- Spot anomolies such as -

     > Mispellings

     > Cropped to wrong size

     > Mix of high-res and low-res

     > Missing file from a list of consecutive file numbers

     > Inclusion of wrong file-types

I fully agree that this has always been important functionality missing from LR.  While waiting for Adobe to implement it (it's been 15 years already), you could consider one of these plugins: List View, Any Filter, Data Explorer.  They each can export lists of files and their metadata as CSV files, though they have different capabilities.

Please go to Help>System Info… and get us the exact installed version number of your software.

From your description I cannot tell which Lightroom Application you are using.

I’m both a film and photo editor.

Several years ago I switched from Final Cut Pro to Adobe Premiere

and found it an easy adjust. I’m very happy with Premiere.

However, I’ve been on Aperture since it’s inception and have gotten

stuck in my multiple attempts to migrate over to Lightroom. I work for a

photographer, editing thousand of photos shot with Nikons.

The new NEFs can’t be read by Aperture because the program has been abandoned by Apple.

My main stumbling block is work flow. I frequently change the order of

photos to tell a better story for the client, I then go into Aperture’s List Mode to

change the time of day to retain my custom order of images.

Lightroom doesn’t seem to have a List Mode and I can’t  find a comparable

(even if different) way to maintain a new order of images.

I’ve looked at many tutorials  but I haven’t yet found a solution.

Any ideas that could trigger an aha moment would be greatly appreciated.

The copyright office has added new requirements. Can you add a feature to allow exporting the title, file name, and other selected metadata into an Excel file (preferably the one ECopyright provides)? If the title field was blank then a substitution of the filename would be helpful. There are some plug-ins that will do this but it still requires a lot of cut and paste. Lightroom is all about streamlining your workflow. Thanks for the consideration.

Yes. I'm switching over from Aperture  where I used the List view daily to organize either by camera or time.  I'm looking for a work around in Lightroom and this lack to be limit my work flow.

Plugins are fine if you really want to go in that direction. I prefer to use as few as possible...Could it really be that hard to for the Lr team to add this? I mean, they could ask the Bridge team to share. 😉

It would be nice to have a list view similar to what was in Aperture.  It would make it easier to sort and organize photos.

Agree this merge devalues the OP so much the conversation makes no sense.
